OGame Newtron: What It Does and When It's Worth Using
Newtron is a one-time-use item that instantly cuts time off whatever research you currently have running. It's not a resource you stockpile for building ships or structures — it's a research shortcut, and knowing when to actually use one is more valuable than just knowing it exists.

Note: the tiers and exact costs below reflect standard OGame. Some private servers adjust Dark Matter costs or reduction amounts, so check your server's item shop for the exact numbers.
The Three Newtron Tiers
- Bronze — cuts your current research time by roughly 30 minutes.
- Silver — cuts it by around 2 hours.
- Gold — cuts it by about 6 hours, and costs the most Dark Matter of the three.
If a Newtron would reduce your remaining research time to zero or below, the leftover reduction doesn't just disappear — it carries over and applies to the next research item in your queue. That makes stacking Newtrons on a long research queue more efficient than using one on a single short research that's nearly done anyway.
Where to Get Newtrons
- Dark Matter purchase — the direct route, available from the item/shop menu.
- Import/Export Market — sometimes tradeable here depending on what other players are offering.
- Expeditions — a chance find, not something you can rely on getting when you need it.
